Karnataka is one of India’s most important coffee-growing regions and is particularly renowned for Robusta coffees with a full body and spicy character. Many of the coffee plants there grow beneath shade trees, nestled within a diverse landscape featuring spice plants, tropical vegetation and fertile soils.

‘Bhoomi’ means earth and symbolises this coffee’s close connection to its origins. As a washed Robusta, it reveals a cleaner and clearer side to this coffee variety: the processing removes some of the heaviness typical of classic Robustas and better highlights its structure, sweetness and spice.

Character and flavour

A robust, earthy Robusta with a pleasant sweetness and spicy depth. In the cup, notes of cocoa, roasted nuts and dark spices emerge, accompanied by a subtle fruitiness and a light green nuance.

The body is full and dense, the acidity very mild. An accessible Indian Robusta with a clear structure, a nutty-chocolatey character and a long, spicy aftertaste.

Our Harley Estate coffee is grown by the Classic Synergy Group, a fifth-generation group of coffee farmers, on the farm of the same name. They produce high-quality coffee, which differs significantly from normal coffee, both in its optic and in the cup. It is the result of careful cultivation, meticulous tending, special processing and roasting. They only use organic fertilizer. The workers are provided with housing, electricity and water in addition to their wage. There is free education for their children as well as access to medical facilities and they receive parental allowance, bonuses and special pay as well as paid holidays.

Character and Taste
A harmonious cup with little acidity but an even stronger body. India Harley Estate has high caffeine content and a delicate flavour of cardamom and vanilla, which will make any coffee lover’s heart beat faster.

Plantation Info
Classic Synergy is a group of coffee farmers in the fifth generation who produce high-quality coffee which is visibly different in quality from normal coffee. It is the result of careful cultivation methods, meticulous picking routines, special processing, marketing and handling. The labourers receive free accommodation, electricity and water. Education for the children and medical infrastructure are also free of cost, complemented by paid maternity leave, bonuses, incentives and continued pay during vacation.

Particularities
India produces washed and unwashed coffees (called "cherry"). The washed Arabica is labelled "plantation arabica" and the washed Robusta is called "parchment robusta". For the production of Monsooned coffee, the coffee beans are put into layers of 10 - 15 cm and spread in a well-ventilated warehouse. The coffee beans are exposed to the humid wind of the monsoon over a period of 12 to 16 weeks and regularly turned over.

The term ‘Red Cherry’ refers to the ripe coffee cherries that are harvested and dried whole in this natural processing method. This maintains contact between the pulp and the bean for longer during drying, which can lend the coffee greater sweetness, richness and depth.

The acidity is very mild, the body full and round. A coffee with a strong character, featuring a nutty-chocolatey profile, a spicy aftertaste and the typical strength of an Indian Robusta.

Kagera is located in north-western Tanzania, near Lake Victoria, and is one of the country’s most important Robusta-growing regions. The warm climate, fertile soils and proximity to the lake create ideal conditions for robust coffees with a full body and distinctive character.

‘Uhuru’ means freedom and is also a powerful symbol of East African history. This washed Robusta showcases a cleaner and clearer side of this coffee variety: the processing brings freshness and structure to the cup and makes the natural strength of the Robusta appear more balanced.

Character and flavour

A robust Tanzanian Robusta with pleasant sweetness, mild fruitiness and lively yet well-integrated acidity. In the cup, there are hints of ripe yellow fruit, roasted nuts and a subtle fermented depth.

The body is full and dense, the aftertaste warm and lingering. A cleanly processed Robusta with structure, strength and an exciting interplay of fruit, nut and spicy depth.
