When after the vegetation break the tea bushes start to blossom, the new tea
season begins in Darjeeling. The first harvest period of the year (first flush)
normally starts in the beginning of March. The end of the Holi-Festival aids to
orientation. Limited amounts of these premium spring teas is being imported by
airfreight soon after the plucking. The so-called “airfreight teas” are
distinguished by their freshly plucked character and flowery scents.
