Founded by the British in 1869 in the picturesque Mirik Valley on the border with Nepal, Seeyok Garden is also one of the oldest certified organic plantations in Darjeeling. Affectionately called ‘Swek’ by the locals, which translates as ‘at your service’, tea was cultivated here under organic guidelines for the first time in the region 30 years ago. Since then, many prizes and awards have been won, including the ‘Excellence at Origin Award’ for the best organically produced Darjeeling first flush in 2019. Ideal conditions such as the altitude of 1,100 - 1,800 metres, a good mix of sun and rain as well as very nutrient-rich soils form the basis for a wide range of unique tea qualities.
