A very famous green tea speciality from the region located around the “Yellow Mountain” in the south of the Anhui Province. “Hou Kui”, meaning King of Apes, does not have anything to do with apes, however. The name comes from the names of the villages Houkeng and the tea farmer Wang Kuicheng. The eye-catching large, flat, spear-like leaves remind of a large Lung Ching. The production is extremely arduous, making this tea rare and expensive. Especially organic qualities are hard to come by. Its infusion will delight you with a slight scent of citrus fruits, its flavour is full-bodied and mild, without any hint of tanginess.
