Chocolate, a treat enjoyed worldwide, is made from the cocoa beans of the
cacao tree. The cacao tree grows to a height of 4 to 5 meters and produces the
beans from which chocolate is made through an elaborate processing method. A
crucial step in this process is roasting the beans at precisely controlled
temperatures, which releases the characteristic cocoa flavor.
After roasting, the beans are further processed by separating them from their
shells and grinding them. During the grinding process, the cocoa butter
contained in the cells is released, forming a fragrant cocoa mass along with the
remaining components of the bean—this mass serves as the base for cocoa powder,
cocoa butter, or chocolate.
