In Germany, tradition has it that on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, doughnuts with a sweet filling are served at midnight. Sometimes, as a joke, one is served with a load of mustard! But don't worry, our doughnut was filled with cherry jam. Of course, our New Year's doughnut with almond slivers, sour cherry drops, creamy pastry notes and the cherries "on top" can also be enjoyed in the run-up to Christmas and well into the New Year.
