Iron
Iron is an indispensable material in industry and craftsmanship. It has been
used for centuries in the manufacture of tools, machinery, and decorative
objects such as cast iron kettles. Due to its robustness and versatility, iron
plays a central role in numerous manufacturing processes and design
applications. In our accessory range, you will also find a variety of iron
products: We offer you a wide selection of high-quality iron teapots and
trivets. On this page, we present the fascinating manufacturing process and the
advantages of our cast iron teapots.
The iron production
Traditional cast iron teapots have been produced for centuries with only
minor modifications. Experienced master craftsmen produce aluminium moulds which
are used to cast the iron teapots. The furnace that heats and liquefies the iron
to fill the moulds is in operation 24 hours a day.
Portions of the
molten iron are removed from the furnace, transported via a rail system to the
casting fields and poured into aluminium moulds situated in holes in the ground.
After at least 24 hours, the aluminium casting moulds are dug out of the
ground.
The insides of the unfinished pots are then polished to prepare them for the
subsequent enamel sealing process. This makes the teapots particularly
resistant. A seamless and even glaze is achieved by pouring the liquid enamel
around the body several times.
Areas that are difficult to access, such
as the edges of the pot, are finished by hand. The glaze hardens and seals the
jugs after a drying and firing period. Finally, the outside of the pots is
refined with selected colours in elegant gloss and matt shades. The quality of
these precious products is sealed with a last firing.
Care Instructions for Iron Kettles: Keeping Your Kettle in Top Condition
Before First Use: Rinse the iron kettle thoroughly with hot
water to remove any production residues. Then dry the kettle with a clean,
lint-free cloth.
Tips for Longevity of Your Iron Kettle:
- Immediate Cleaning: Rinse the kettle with clear water
after each use and wipe it dry.
- Air Circulation: Place the lid loosely on the kettle to
allow any remaining moisture to escape.
- Safe Heating: Never heat the kettle directly over an open
flame or on glass ceramic cooktops. Instead, use a stove plate at low
temperature.
- No Microwave: Iron kettles are not microwave-safe.
- Avoid Cleaning Agents: Clean the kettle only with clear
water. Chemical cleaning agents are unnecessary.
-
Water Removal: Do not leave water standing in
the kettle for extended periods.
-
Avoid Contact with Oil and Salt: Keep the
kettle away from oil and salt to protect the coating.
-
Temperature Protection: Protect the kettle
from sudden temperature changes.
-
Caution with Enamel Coatings: Avoid damaging
the enamel coating with sharp objects.
-
Dishwasher Prohibition: Iron kettles are not
suitable for dishwashers. Clean them by Hand.
-
Never Heat Empty: Never heat the kettle when
it is empty.
Note on Fruit Teas: Iron kettles are not suitable for
brewing fruit teas, as the acids can damage the
coating.
Protective Patina: Over time, a protective
patina will form on the inside of the iron kettle. This is important and should
not be removed. Small rust spots are normal and pose no health
risk.
Follow these guidelines to ensure the longevity and functionality
of your iron kettle while enjoying the full aroma of your
teas!
Cha Cult® Decoration Inspiration
With the right presentation, you can easily impress your customers with your
products.
High-quality and more expensive iron kettles, for example,
look great when given space and are not overly cluttered with closely arranged
items.
Display your iron kettles on different levels for a vibrant and varied look.
Especially in small sales areas, a three-dimensional vertical setup creates
additional space for product presentation. Iron kettles do not shine on clean
surfaces; they also look appealing on wood or differently colored bases. Perhaps
you could even create an Asian-inspired corner?
