First Flush

A term which comes from Northern India referring to the first fresh leaves of tea at the beginning of the year. The best qualities are brought to Europe via air mail. The harvest starts in March on the slopes of the Himalaya. These first teas for which only the very light green leaf tips are plucked, are distinguished by their very flowery, nippy aroma.

Due to the slow growth at the beginning of the vegetation period and due to the intensive sun rays during this time period, the first flushes receive a high amount of fresh flavour which is sought to be preseved with the deliberately quick transport. These teas are light in the cup, but are of an unforgettable freshness!
