This letter provides explanations and information concering one of the teas of highest quality, the Gyokuro, also known as dewdrop. This Japanese green tea variety grows on the slopws of the Fudschijama and is reseved for special occasions.
Distinctiveness: The plants are covered with straw mats approximately 14 days before the harvest. Due to this, the plants produce more chlorophyll and the tannin content is reduced, the leaves become a dark green colour. The taste is very fine and mild with a sweet note.
