Tè nero Malawi TGFOP Balaka
Balaka is a rural district with mostly farmland, situated in the south of Malawi. As opposed to the previously listed Thyolo quality, this variety is best characterised by a soft, aromatic taste with some earthy notes. The sinensis leaf has a medium brown colour and some light tips, the cup is bright and lightly red in colour. Tradition and craftsmanship go hand in hand in this blend.

Tè nero Malawi Pu Erh
Our colleagues in purchasing were taken by surprise when they were presented with a Pu-Erh from Malawi! Produced following traditional methods, yet of African origin, this tea has a somewhat irregular leaf. The taste, however, is all the more impressive, with an unusually soft, mild and yet typically earthy character. The harmonic aftertaste is pleasantly spicy. This product will surely set new standards and is particularly recommendable to Pu-Erh “beginners”. Let yourself be surprised!

Tè nero Malawi Thyolo dark-fired
Let us now begin with the section of truly unique teas! “Dark-fired” already hints at it: this tea is dried using somewhat higher temperatures. This does not mean, however, that this has a negative effect on the quality. Flowery, with a slight Ceylon highgrown aroma and nuances of grapes, olive-green in the cup and enjoyed with a soft nutmeg flavour which will remain on the tongue for some time. This speciality is also a real gem in its optic with a large, twisted, dark leaf, which reminds of a classical Oolong.

Tè semifermentati Malawi Oolong Type Thyolo
Here we are presenting you with a further, very interesting quality from the Satemwa plantation. Named after the capital city of the cultivation region and a close-by mountain, this variety is cultivated at an altitude of approximately 1,200 m. Freshly brewed, the hand-rolled, extremely fragile leaves dispense a slight scent of lime blossoms. The cup reflects golden-yellow colours and the taste is fresh, grassy with slight vegetable-like notes. This is an exceptional talent in the world of Oolong teas.

Tè semifermentatit Malawi Oolong Type Salima
African tea gardens are usually known for innumerable teabag qualities, which are mainly produced using the CTC production method. True to the motto “to swim against the current” Satemwa has been cultivating and producing individual orthodox teas like this Oolong variety for generations. The infusion of the coarse, long, twisted leaves glows golden-brown to orange in the cup and tastes comparatively spicy with some slightly fruity notes.

Tè verde Malawi Zomba
The tea makers have created a very extraordinary tea in this blend. The coarse, uneven leaf structure makes you believe this is a more tangy tea. However, the multi-faceted taste, which is certainly comparable to some Japanese teas, invalidates this assumption. The glowing, lime-coloured infusion hints at green asparagus. Well-scented and flowery in taste, this tea is predestined for green tea enthusiasts.

Tè bianco Malawi THYOLO Peony
White tea and its various versions are originally from China. Due to its continuous popularity, other cultivation countries have started to also create these teas. Both of our characteristically totally different Peony varieties are based on the same unique climate and the more than 80 years old Chinese tea shrubs. Not quantity is what counts here but quality! The pale-yellow infusion of the lime-green leaves has a slightly herbal scent and tastes delicately smooth with some touches of rose and lime blossoms. A wonderful delicacy for all green tea lovers!

Tè bianco Malawi BVUMBWE Peony
Those who have always believed that white teas always have a medium to lightly green leaf are proven wrong with this variety. As opposed to its brother “Thyolo” the bronze-coloured leaf of the Bvumbwe seems more like a premium Formosa Oolong. The leaves of a special tea field in Satemwa are responsible for this. Still on the bush, they already glow delicately red and then change their colour even further during the withering process. Remarkable is also the light, fresh, malty caramel flavour. This is an exceptional quality, which can only be harvested by especially trained tea pluckers and following special standards.
